French startup firm Blade has announced they are officially open for business in the US with the release of their “Shadow PC”
Subscribers of the service who are willing to part with a $34.95 monthly fee which can be cancelled at any time will be granted access to their very own dedicated Windows 10 “Shadow Computer” which consists of an Intel XEON PC with 8 threads, 12GB of DDR4 Memory, 256GB of secured storage, and a Single-user Nvidia GTX1080 equivalent graphics card.
In addition, users will have access to an Ultra fast 1Gb/s down / 100Mb/s up connection and free component upgrades for the life of your subscription. Users will not be subjected to hourly or minute by minute fees like some competing services are offering. Users looking for additional storage space will have additional options were told.
Of course, you will need an existing device to gain access to Shadow, but almost any modern laptop or desktop PC running Linux, Windows, OSX or Android mobile (iOS soon) clients will work with their Shadow App. Were told Shadow will also be coming to smart TV’s as well. and for those who do not or want a more dedicated gaming device Shadow also offer the ability to purchase or rent the Shadow box a small yet powerful dedicated streaming device that supports 4K, USB 3.0 HDMI and Display Port connections.
Shadow is promising gamers up to 4K 30FPS of adaptive resolution gameplay with as little as 15Mb/s connections and with two newly updated data centers located in California and New York (with more to come) users of the service should expect no visible latency over wired connections.
